Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms govern your use of keyspeake, a desktop dictation and read-aloud application for Linux. By downloading, installing, or using keyspeake, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't install it.

2. License

A paid license grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to run keyspeake on machines you own or control. It is not a subscription unless you explicitly choose a recurring plan at checkout. Licenses are sold by Sirpur Nikhil; payment processing is handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record.

keyspeake also offers a time-limited free trial. Trial terms (length, feature scope) are stated at download time and may change between releases.

3. Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)

keyspeake does not include or resell access to any transcription, text-to-speech, or language-model API. You supply your own API key for the provider you choose (e.g. Groq, Deepgram, OpenAI), and you are responsible for that provider's own pricing, terms, and usage limits. keyspeake is not a party to your agreement with that provider.

4. Acceptable Use

You may not redistribute, resell, or sublicense your license key, reverse-engineer keyspeake beyond what applicable law permits, or use it to violate a third-party API provider's terms of service.

5. No Warranty

keyspeake is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose. Transcription and read-aloud accuracy depend on the third-party provider you configure and are not guaranteed.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sirpur Nikhil is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of keyspeake, including costs incurred with a third-party API provider.

keyspeake began as a fork of y0sif/whisrs, used under its original MIT license. See About for the full credit.

9. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated as the product changes. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
